Lymphoedema Management

Updated: Oct 14

Lymphoedema can occur due to abnormalities in the lymphatic system (Primary Lymphoedema) or damage to it (Secondary Lymphoedema), resulting in the accumulation of lymph fluid in and below the skin layers, leading to swelling. This damage can be caused by various factors such as trauma, surgery, or treatments like radiotherapy. Additionally, lymphoedema can be exacerbated by pre-existing conditions like chronic venous disease and obesity.

Although there is no cure for lymphoedema, Tatjana emphasizes that a diagnosis doesn't mean putting life on hold. Through proper treatment and management, individuals can continue engaging in activities they love. Our approach likely includes therapies to reduce swelling, such as manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), compression therapy, exercise, and skincare, along with providing support and guidance to help individuals cope with the challenges of living with lymphoedema.
